For a long time, I never meal prep Meal. I would come home and ask the golden question, “what’s for dinner?” Until a friend of mine suggested I do meal prep. Meal prepping is a great way to save time and money while ensuring you eat healthy and nutritious meals throughout the week. I meal prep on Saturdays, and here are a few tips that have helped me prep like a pro.

1. Scan your pantry and fridge

Take inventory of what you have and what you are running low of.

2. Keep it simple

Plans your meals based on the ingredients you have available first. Choose meals that are easy to prepare and don’t require a lot of ingredients. For example, this week, I have Tofu in my fridge, sweet potatoes, red lentils, and pinto beans in my pantry. I googled the ingredients and came up with two easy recipes: General Tao Tofu and Sweet potato red lentil soup. I will use the pinto beans for my rice and beans.

3. Save the recipes

Then, I print the recipes on a 3×5 index card that I laminate. I write down the menu and keep the recipes in my planner, so I am not lost when it’s time to cook. And if you cannot cook, someone in your house can help since you already have the directions.

4. Shop

I buy whatever I need and running low online for the week. This helps me save money and avoid impulse purchases.

5. Prep your meals

Once you have your groceries, it’s time to prep your meals. You can either cook all your meals at once or prep the ingredients for each meal. I mainly prep my proteins and store them in Stasher or Ziploc bags. And that’s all I do.

Remember

Keep it easy and try to vary your diet. With these tips and tricks, you will be able to meal prep like a pro in no time. Happy Prepping!
