Making bread is a fun and rewarding activity. I have been using the recipe below for years without fail. You will magically impress your family and guests without understanding how. I guarantee!

Jim Lahey is credited with creating the no-knead bread recipe that became popular in recent years. He shared the original recipe with the New York Times in 2006. If you are a visual person, here are the step-by-step video instructions by the chef himself.

Serving Size:
4
Time:
50 min | excluding preparation
Difficulty:
Easy

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1/4 tsp of instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups of water

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Combine.
  2. Add the water and still until well combined. The dough will be shaggy and sticky.
  3. Cover the blow with plastic wrap and let sit at room temperature for 12-18 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size and is covered in bubbles.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450F. Place a Dutch oven or any other oven-safe pot with a lid in the oven while it preheats.
  5. Remove the pot from the oven and carefully place the dough inside. Cover the lid and bake for 30 min.
  6. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 min, or until the bread is golden brown.
  7. Remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Get the butter ready. I made the batch below this weekend. It was gone in 15 min. Miam!
